Hello Again

Life swallows you up and you forget you're seriously ill until you have another relapse. I have to laugh otherwise I'll cry. Luckily, it's nowhere near as severe as my last just incredibly uncomfortable and is making work and study difficult. I'm also going to be starting my DMDs soon, I'm going to ...

Ethical Dilemmas in Counselling, particularly when it comes to MS

Ethics was not my favourite course during my counselling program, but it is the one which taught me the most. I learned that if a seriously ill, depressed client tells me he or she is considering committing suicide, I have to work around my tendency to be overwhelmingly supportive and empathetic. Fe...

A heartfelt goodbye and thank you 💚

Dear Shift.ms friends, you know, it's quite a thing to find yourself at a loss for words. When I joined Shift.ms two years ago, I was still finding my footing after my MS diagnosis. I was a bit of a ship lost at sea. But this incredible community was the lighthouse. Tomorrow is my last day at Shif...

Myelin repair clinical trial - a new one

Hello all. An update on my adventures in the land of myelin repair clinical trials: I started a new one this week. This one is called Taurus 2 and uses electrical stimulation of the brain (external, painless) for 15 minutes a day for 20 days to try to get the oligodendrocytes moving. They're a type ...

Exercise and fatigue

I've been reading that some people find their fatigue is better with regular exercise. My problem is that by the end of the work day there's nothing left in the tank to exercise. Any strategies or advice?

Teaching with MS

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if there are any fellow primary school teachers here who have MS? How you are coping? Have you implemented any strategies to help? I was diagnosed a year ago and now finding myself really struggling with my job and the daily stress. Thanks!

Exercise while working

There's a lot of commentary out there on "exercise for improving fatigue". I'm keen to exercise, used to be a hiker and loved to run, swim and walk. Since diagnosis I have really struggled with fatigue and mobility, and exercise is really modest personal training, light walking and yoga. I also work...

Time off of work?

I’m young so I’m not completely understanding of my rights or how to go around things. My MS has gotten worse I cannot walk very well or see and my parents have recommended time off of work. Do I need a sick note to do this, is that possible?
