Hello Again

Life swallows you up and you forget you're seriously ill until you have another relapse. I have to laugh otherwise I'll cry. Luckily, it's nowhere near as severe as my last just incredibly uncomfortable and is making work and study difficult. I'm also going to be starting my DMDs soon, I'm going to ...

PIP review anxiety

Tecfidera

Hello $Thedonasara, I have been on this medication for 6 years. Yes, I feel fatigue and I can fall asleep at any time of day, when I'm at home. This disrupts my night time sleep routine, but I just work out a schedule. Apart from that, I do not experience other side effects.

Mri results

I had my mri results today. She said I have lesions on my spine and I need a brain scan. I asked her y and she said she thinks I have a neurological disorder. I asked what that means and she said well the most common one is MS. I googled the symptoms and I have most of them. I struggle to walk. Stru...

Big Changes

I have one more week of usual work next week and then as of the 1st April, my hours are dropping from 40-50 per week….down to about 4-6 hours per week. Due to a number of reasons. Some clients felt like they didn’t want to risk working with someone who might be ill a lot (even though I’ve only take...

Immunosuppressants

Hi all! Can anyone share how life is after having the immune system prevented from working as effective as it should be? Do you get lots of colds or infections? I’m thinking to start either Ocrevus or kesimpta (there are pretty much the same really). I work as a primary school teacher and I’m a bit ...

MBSR and MBCT

The CBT practice variant which interest me the most is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). Why? Because I know from personal experience that it works. In our first course we were tasked with developing a safe and effective use of self (SASE) program and I chose to research mindfulness-based ...

PIP Payment Today

I applied for PIP in November. I went for an assessment in January and failed to qualify - scoring 2 0's. I reapplied (sorry can't think of the proper word :D) after failing and someone from the DWP called me on Monday and spent 25 minutes on the phone with me going through how MS affects my day t...

It's been a while!

Hi! Just thought I'd check in to update on my life in general, and ask a few wee things... So I had a super stressful year from 2020-21. I was doing teacher training and kept hitting barriers where I felt so undafe and at risk from COVID whilst on placements. It was looking like all would be OK, bu...

PIP claim disappointment

This is just a little rant... PIP. What a waste of time! My decision letter arrived and the report wasn't even close to what I wrote and spoke about in the assessment. It doesn't even reflect the letter I sent in supporting evidence from my neurologist. It's left me feeling like I've been complete...

I have just had to accept that I need to give up a well paid job that I loved because of the impact of ms on my cognitive ability. 23 years of working soo hard and it comes to this. Perhaps it’s the new start I need.

Hello, new to Shift - diagnosed in 2017.

Saying hello, first time on Shift. Took me 6 months to be diagnosed after years of symptoms and a bit of medical gaslighting thrown in. I've been on Copaxone, Gilenya and currently on Tysabri. Having a difficult time the last couple of months in work with my boss, which is not helping my fatigue or ...
