The Invisible Illness

People often ask how I'm doing, and it's hard to explain that I look fine on the outside while my internal battery is sitting at 4%. Invisible illness is a masterclass in masking. How do you usually describe your energy levels to people who just don't get it? 🔋

If only my invisible illness was visible

I think one of the most difficult things about having MS (and many other chronic illnesses) is that it is an invisible illness. So many symptoms cannot be seen, a bit like the amount of an iceberg that is under the water, and are therefore not always taken seriously by those around us. There are...

Invisible illness

I really need to vent. Today is the 2nd time when my annual clinic appointment which was then changed to a 'phone appointment ' and for the 2nd time I didn't receive any call. I would just put it down to typical HSE admin nonsense but I've been hospitalised with sezieures twice in recent months so n...

Have you ever felt ashamed because of MS or an MS symptom?

During my first MS flare up I was very uncomfortable walking around and seeing people I know... who might ask me about it... or worse, just stare at me. Being okay last week and suddenly I can't even carry my own weight because my legs are too weak was a very humiliating experience for me. And that'...

MS in pictures

Hey I'm Lilith, I'm an artist and you might already know at least some of my artworks.... I'm the one who paints MS to give our invisible illness a face (or many faces). In my latest YT video I decided to make a compilation of 30 of my artworks... so 30 MS symptoms/side effects that were given a fa...

Vertigo

I suffered from vertigo a lot during my first flare up... so of course I visualised what it feels like for my art project A Thousand Faces with which I want to raise awareness of our invisible illness. In my latest video I talk about it and introduce Emma; my personification of vertigo... so go chec...

Every aspect of life becomes a challenge

So I’ve been dealing with PPMS for a few years now, and nothing has been easy. I don’t need to go through the extended list of side affects with you, because I’m sure we all suffer from this neurological monster in a very similar manner. I’m most concerned with where it has left me as a young fath...
