The Invisible Illness

People often ask how I'm doing, and it's hard to explain that I look fine on the outside while my internal battery is sitting at 4%. Invisible illness is a masterclass in masking. How do you usually describe your energy levels to people who just don't get it? 🔋
@WPerrotto

I usually tell people imagine you are a walking jug with a grated foot soles, now with MS imagine that grate being huge nails hammered in all the way to the head and beyond. Even laying down my energy keeps gushing, not just leaking, out at all times.

@Mondaygirl22

I just tell people I’m happy to be here. And they smile and that’s that. If I choose to carry on the conversation then I do other wise I wave and move on.. I am thankful it’s a true and simple response. Unfortunately for me the comment that seems to hit me like sandpaper is when people tell me I look 👀 good 🤢 because I know it’s a lie.. and they are just saying something to make themselves feel better ❤️‍🩹 and bothers me I’m walking with the walker why do they need to feel better about?? Not that I want to look bad in general honestly like I don’t want to be worse than I currently am, but I sure would like to go the rest of my life without hearing that statement, and I was not ever given that statement before I had to start using the walker, which I think makes it bother me even more knowing that truth💝
