Immunosuppressants

Hi all! Can anyone share how life is after having the immune system prevented from working as effective as it should be? Do you get lots of colds or infections? I’m thinking to start either Ocrevus or kesimpta (there are pretty much the same really). I work as a primary school teacher and I’m a bit ...

Immunosuppressed advice.

So I guess with Ocrevus I'm immunosuppressed now. I'm not really getting a solid answer from any medical professionals in how seriously I need to be with this. Wash my hands and wear a mask? Stay away from snotty kids? Become a hermit? Any advice is good advice. Would also take silly answers to wi...

Immunosuppression & lifestyle

Hi all, I’m due to start Kesimpta next week and was just wondering about how DMT’s affect lifestyle. I work in the hospital and was wondering if it’s still safe to do so? Also do DMTs affect travelling? In general do you have to be super careful for infection?

Immunosuppressed and fighting colds - any tips

Hello fellow MSers, does anybody have any tips on fighting colds while we take certain DMTs which lower our immune system? I had Omicron about 4 months ago and thankfully recovered, but since then I have started Kesimpta and have just finished my first month of injections. For the last 3 weeks I ha...

Upcoming webinar on Covid vaccines in immunocompromised

Spotted this interesting-looking webinar from the British Society for Immunology on "COVID-19 vaccines: how effective are they in people with weakened immune systems?" Might be of interest to some here, especially if you're on an immunosuppressing DMT. https://www.immunology.org/events/covid-19-v...

Anxiety around immunosuppression

Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice about Ocrevus and immunosuppression, and would love to hear people's honest experiences. I’m newly diagnosed with RRMS and have agreed on Ocrevus with my neuro team. This is what I wanted and I feel confident in my choice; my doctors feel the same as my lumbar ...

Is Tecfidera an immunosuppressant drug?

Hi there, is anyone aware if Tecfidera is an immunosuppresant? As far as I'm aware it's on the lower scale compared to other drugs? If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Katie

Clandrabine immunotherapy

I have been asked by a neurologist to consider starting this treatment. I was diagnosed with ppms in January 2018 by ( another) neurologist who says the condition is “quite indolent “ and thinks I should steer clear of such treatment. Has anyone any thoughts/ advice/ experience to share? I would be ...

Immunosuppressant versus IRT

Am I right in thinking that Ocrevus is an immunosuppressant whereas Lemtrada is an Immune Reconstitution Therapy ? If so, does that mean your vulnerability to opportunistic infection is permanent all the time you are on Ocrevus whereas with Lemtrada, once your immune system ‘rebuilds’, it is back t...

Hi there, I'm in the final stages of diagnosis for MS, but from the tests it's looking near certain that, that's what it is. I was looking at some pamphlets for DMT's today that I took from the neuro's office, as well as reading online. I don't want to upset/scare anyone with this post but it does ...

Ocrevus side effects

Hi everyone. I’m hoping you’ll be able to help. Where I live there isn’t a big MS community. I find myself a bit confused and no one to ask really😞 I got diagnosed in October 2018 with RRMS. I’m on tecfidera since. In December last year I had my MRI and my neurologist told me I’ve got 2 new lesio...

Hello I am due to switch from tysabri to either ocrevus or cladribine in the new year. I was wondering how these drugs affected everyday life in relation to it's immunosuppressive nature. Effective or safe?

Hi guys! I’m having a great deal of anxiety over starting Kesimpta. My neuro thinks my MS is aggressive based solely on how many lesions I have (just diagnosed), and none were showing active on my MRI. I have no symptoms right now. I would much rather go on a safer med, the side effects of Kesimpta...
