Cognition

Don't speak for the person with MS if they can't get their words out, they will and if you do that you just stress them even more!

Cognition and emotion

Hello! I am feeling like all things brain related are wrong. Folks I have been doing really well that’s why I haven’t posted much however lately feel I’m going downhill. That ‘mushy brain’ feeling is back. How does one know if it’s a relapse, a pseudo relapse, a transition to sp? To make things m...

MShacks: Memory and Cognition

Hi there, Shifters. The theme of the next set of MS hacks is memory and thinking. As I'm sure many of you will have experienced, sometimes MS makes it just that bit more difficult to keep details in your head, keep track of conversations, or think of that oh so witty comeback quickly enough. So, if...

Does CBT help MS symptoms?

There has been a lot of comment on CBT's efficacy for MS since my first post. I'm going to throw this in the mix now: CBT emphasizes collaboration and active participation (Beck, 1995) and I wonder how that works with people who suffer from depression. Having struggled with depression myself, I know...

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Looking at the list of the basic principles of CBT (Beck. 1995) in my previous post, I can see where CBT could be characterized as a rigid, formulated approach to therapy. However, it is important to note that CBT is based on an evolving formulation of a patient’s problems. In fact, CBT offers flexi...
