PPMS and needing a knee replacement

I’m new here I was diagnosed with PPMS in 2019. I work full time changing oil, tires, headlights and batteries. I was told in 2024 I needed a knee replacement on my dominant leg and that I was too young to have it done I needed to strengthen it and received pt. I receive Ocrevus infusion every 6 months and take 800 mg Ibuprofen when needed but it does nothing for the pain. I really don’t like meds but I fight though the pain and do it all over next day only to come home and hobble around. I garden just to be able to relax I’m 43 I really dont want to try for disability this early I’ve been in customer service for a long time now I believe I have a lot of soft skills to get a different source of income but I lack the confidence to even try, leg drop on left leg and knee pain on right. Sorry I don’t know if I had a question or just wanted to get it out

I’m in the process of scheduling ankle surgery on my MS impacted sixe of my body. I researched ortho surgeons, and went with one associated with a hospital. He said the MS may impact my speed of recovery, but still agreed I need the operation.

Well it’s a lot to consider. I had left total knee replacement in fall 2023. Recovery was great. About 6 mos after that I got foot drop. Gradually got worse over the next year. Then was diagnosed with PPMS. Turns out the foot drop was unrelated to the knee replacement and everything to do with my MS lesions. Now I have such spasticity in that leg that I have severe flexion contraction in that leg. ( It won’t straighten) Just saying make the decision with your MS team and find a surgeon versed with MS. Best of luck whatever you decide!
