Diabetes and MS

I've been noticing how many like me have both diabetes and MS. As they are a both autoimmune diseases I suppose it's hardly surprising. When the Betaferon stopped working for me and I was going through the tests to see what alternatives were suitable, I decided to try Kelinek's diet advice. Vegan plus fish, combined with the continence adviser's advice to give up tea, coffee and alcohol and the diabetic diet, have made it an interesting few months, especially with Christmas. Surprisingly, my Hba1 test for the last diabetic clinic has been the best it has been for years and the lack of caffeine has been helpful. It is easier to ask for fruit tea on the basis I'm not taking milk rather than blame the bladder. I've been on Gilenya for 6 weeks now. It's not had the dramatic improvement the Betaferon did and the chest pains last month did make me fear I was having a heart attack. I was relieved to see from the posts on the subject that the results can take 6 months to take effect. In the meantime, I need some sunshine and time to meditate!
