Symptoms after IV steroids

Hi there I'm new to this site so Ill explain my situation briefly, I was diagnosed in July 2012 after suffering quite a bad attack of tranverse myelitis, I had numb legs (but could still walk), lost control of my bladder, had extreme lower back ache and banding. All has been pretty well for the last 2 years- I am on gilenya (apart from 1 dose of IV steroids may last year). However in January of this year I had some MS symptoms after a chest infection. I put them down to a pseudo attack but they were still hanging around (tingles in legs and left hand side of my face, sometimes slight weakness in the foot or hand and very slight banding and as the weeks went on backache). I went to see my ms nurse who ordered an MRI, however this came back with no evidence of lesions, well my specialist thought maybe he could see something very very faint but he was pleased with it. However I tried a course of oral steroids and these had no effect so I finished a 3-day course of IV steroids 10 days ago. I thought I would be seeing some improvement but I still have pretty much all the symptoms and also new tingling in the left hand. I thought I would definately be seeing an improvement by now and definately not to feel worsening symptoms. I'm also feeling really confused as to how come I am getting these symptoms without any lesions showing up on my MRI.. Sorry this is long but was wondering if anyone had had any experience like this? Many thanks for reading and for your help. Sarah :)

Hi and welcome to the site. :) I experienced double vision over a period of about a week, as well as numbness and tingling in both arms and my back shortly after I got a diagnosis of MS. When I had an MRI scan it was all clear and there was some improvements from my older lesions. It was pretty strange and I never really know where those symptoms came from! Before the double vision started, I remember thinking before I went to bed "I hope MS never affects my eyes", and then woke up with double vision. Perhaps it is psychological? Who knows! In any case, I hope your symptoms will clear up soon. :)
