Re starting treatment

Hello, So I got diagnosed with rrms last August, started on ocrevus in October. I was supposed to have the next infusion in March but it was cancelled because of coronavirus. My ms nurse rang me yesterday to say my treatment is happening next month- great! But due to covid19 I will have to isolate for 4 weeks after the infusion- not great! I have 3 young children and my partner at home, do I isolate from them too? I'll ring the ms nurse back tomorrow for clarification but I thought I'd ask on here in the meantime as I'm super stressed about not seeing my children for 4 weeks. 😦 Has anyone else been told this is necessary?! X
@jag63

My infusion was also put on hold back in April but then I really started to experience the “crap gap” (that time right before you’re due for your next ocrevus infusion) My dr said that the risk of waiting did not outweigh the benefit of getting back on track with the meds. So I had my infusion, at home, and was told to just social distance myself from the public for a few weeks. I doubt that helps you out but hopefully you won’t feel like you need to distance yourself from your kids. Best of luck 😊

@laurainhiho who has told you that you need to isolate for 4 weeks? There are a lot of assumptions out there (including among MS nurses!) Some people have been told that they need to shield,, and for even longer. There is no evidence to say so. I am awaiting Ocrevus number 2 in July. Since the pandemic began I have distanced and isolated as much as possible. There is not reason that I am aware of you needing to isolate from your immediate family. As everyone needs to you all have to wash your hands frequently and properly. Hope it goes well for you.
