Why am I so scared of injecting??

Hi all, Kesimpta user here. It's been about 18 months and I feel as though my anxiety/panic about injecting is just getting worse. Things I know: a) The injection does not hurt in the slightest. b) It is doing wonderful things for my MS. Things I don't know : A-Z) Why it takes literal hours to push the well-designed pen into my thigh. I feel as if I've tried everything I can think of to overcome the problem/my nerves but nothing seems to convince me to get on with it. By the way, needles in general are not a problem. I don't panic when someone else is wielding the needle! (ie. For vaccines or blood tests.) Any advice would be much appreciated! #dmt #kesimpta

I can relate to this. I’m more nervous than I thought I’d be with taking my Kesimpta injection every month also.My palms sweat beforehand! 😂 I have diabetes so I take between 4 and 6 insulin injections a day without thinking about them.I also insert a continuous glucose monitor into my arm every ten days. No issues. However, there is something about the Kesimpta injection that makes me nervous. For me, I think it’s the idea of what’s in the pen and how it affects me afterwards. So even though I know those big rational thoughts which you mentioned, (it’s doing wonderful things and it doesn’t hurt) it still feels like a big deal to take it. I’m also slightly nervous of “messing it up” even though that’s virtually impossible 😂 When I was a kid a count down was what helped me take my daily injections. I’ve tried to do the same with my kesimpta. and I’ve shortened the countdown every month. I also sometimes promise myself something afterwards. A coffee, a nap, an episode of something etc. Last month was slightly easier and I only needed a quick count to three before taking it. Good luck with your next dose of Kesimpta !

@Aoife2 Gosh well done you! At first, my way of convincing myself that it would be fine was thinking of people who regularly inject insulin. I thought, 'hey, people do this every day so once a month will be a doddle!' How wrong I was. I'm so impressed that you injected after counting to 3. I try countdowns every time and still can't push the pen down. It made me giggle that your palms sweat. I get cramp in my hands from clutching the pen so tightly for such a long time. Last month I re-watched the instruction video and took notice of the fact that it says to inject within 5 minutes of taking of the cap. That made me feel awful because it's only ever been that quick once. 🙃 Thanks for the luck. Fingers crossed that next time I can go to bed a little earlier than midnight!
