wahl's protocol and dmt's

My daughter has recently been diagnosed with MS and wants to follow the Wahl's protocol as well as take the DMT drug. However I'm worried that she may be stimulating the immune system while the drugs are repressing it. The MS diet eliminates as much as possible dairy, refined sugar, legumes and gluten and saturated fat. It also recommends vitamins and supplements. What do you think?? The diet would really improve her current way of eating. Thanks

@teecher66 There are several diets for MS that are reasonably popular. Our family looked at all of them and seriously considered the Walh's diet, but we went with OMS (overcomingms.org). While there maybe pros and cons to each, its also the case that some are going to be a better fit in terms of actually doing the diet. If you are serious about doing the diet its important to think about if this something that is feasible for life or not. For OMS while some people experience benefits quickly, its really something that takes 3 years to reach its peak benefit. Given the length of time your daughter would be on this, it might be worth taking a look at options and picking what she is most comfortable with. Even though OMS and Wahls are very different diets, they both could work because there are some common things (processed foods/sugars are avoided) or because they both impact your microbiome in a positive way, etc.. As you say if you believe this will improve your daughters eating habits for the better, I would jump in and not look back. Eating well is only going to have positive impacts. If you read how they work, its actually more about brining down inflamation and giving your cells the nutrition they need to function as they should. There is lots of reasons to believe its a particular part of your immune system you dont want to encourage. The diet is only going to help.

I started the best bet diet no dairy, sugar, gluten and low fat 6 years ago when I was diagnosed also take lots of supplements its hard at times but I think it is worth it, if I go back to my old diet I don't feel as well. I brought the book Judy Graham MS NATURALLY when I was first diagnosed it really helped, your daughter might find interesting.
