Worried about Ocrevus

Hello, I’m new here, I’m 38 and I’m in the uk. I’ve been diagnosed for about 5 years with relapsing remitting. I generally get EVERY side effect (for example Tecfidera caused me to lose 2 stone) After my MRI at Christmas my neurologist described me as ‘moderately severe’ and after that things have moved quick in terms of both appointments and MS. I recently suffered my first relapse where I couldn’t walk for 2 weeks. And the steroids gave me shingles. I’ve now been recommended Ocrevus and I’m honestly quite nervous. Generally at the moment my immune system is good. I have a 4 year old son who brings home colds and coughs regularly and I don’t catch them. I know Ocrevus will change that. My nurse has recommended I start wearing face masks again. I just want to know peoples experiences with Ocrevus. I know I don’t have a choice taking it because I won’t take any more injections or tablets (the injections ate my skin) I just want to know what to expect. Any replies would be really helpful Mark.

I've been on ocrevus for a year and a half. I haven't noticed any increase in infections, coughs, colds etc. and I'm just carrying on with life as normal. Clearly it's an individual risk assessment for everyone so really down to how you feel about it.

MS can be an absolute turd at times!!! And that’s about as polite as I can be 😳🙄😂 check out the Ms trust uk website - DMT’s can compare 3 at a time with treatment routes, side effects & efficacy. Do a pro’s & con’s list and try to get what’s swimming around in your head out and on paper it helps to makes things clearer at least (for me) and here’s a couple of links that might help with the anxiety. But they take practice and repetition. The thing with the MS and it’s treatments is there are no right or wrong decisions it’s all just trial and error- ocrevus might really work for you where the others haven’t but as you know you can always change your mind. Try and take the pressure off yourself therapists often talk about trying to turn fear into excitement or curiosity. Approach it with an open mind ( I know this is gonna be tough considering your experiences so far) but nothing ventured nothing gained right? Good luck mate and take care of you & yours 🍀👍🤞💪✊🫂😊 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NHZkQ57wzE https://www.getselfhelp.co.uk/docs/STOPP5.pdf
