Treatments?
Hey all,
I’ve been on Gilenya since I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. It’s been mostly effective - had an eye thing about 4 years ago which came good. And at the moment am going through a period with some foot numbness and the MRI I had last week showed a new lesion. Yay for me. I don’t feel overly great at the moment with the foot and major fatigue and aches but am continuing working full time etc. The neurologist is booking me in over the next few weeks to talk about changing meds since Gilenya may not be working as well now. Also is having impact on my liver results and lymphs. And I believe there are other better newer options. From my quick research the 2 newer drugs - Kesimpta and Ocrevus - seem to be pretty prevalent in this group and seem to be effective. Are there other types I should also be considering? Any comments appreciated 😀
Sorry to here you're having a rough time at the moment! When I was discussing treatment options with my neuro last year she gave me a list of about 4 or 5 but I remember we kind of narrowed it down to Kesimpta (which I ended up choosing) or Ocrevus. I don't know much about the Octavia you mentioned, but if you're considering Kesimpta I'd definitely research Ocrevus as well. From my understanding that are a somewhat similar drug, but Ocrevus is a 6 montly infusion whereas Kesimpta is a monthly self-administered injection. Good luck x
@TraceyW oh you’re in Brisbane too! Octavia was an autocorrect - was meant to say Ocrevus! Fixed it now. What neurologist do you see? Kesimpta seems like the easier option to not have to take time off work.
