Starting injections

Hi everyone, I'm just about to start Avonex, I'm terrified of needles and at the thought of having to inject myself for the rest of my life. Also the harmful side effects scare me..... Is there any tips on how to make it all easier. I just know that I'm really healthy besides the MS and I don't want to harm myself with drugs(go from somewhat healthy to having liver failure or seizures or heart issues). Ekkkkkk

Hi Tlee I don't know much about Avonex however I can give some advice about injecting. I was like you, scared of needles. I literally use to be hysterical when I use to go for blood tests and see a needle :) ...cry like a baby! Starting will feel very scary, I remember people telling me it will be easy to inject myself and I'll get use to it, it will become as normal as having a coffee... However I just could not see past it or believe what they were saying but honestly you do just get use to it. It's not as bad as the build up before starting. Just give yourself time and don't be hard on yourself. I hear you re the side effects but the way I try and look at it is that I need to believe that it is better I'm trying to do something preventative than not do anything (it is all personal though). For some it helps having a cold press after injecting or a heat pad or go for a warm shower before to relax... I've tried all of these too but now I don't really bother. Good luck with it x

Hello tlee I take rebif,U have to inject three times a week, the reason I chose rebif was it has the shortest needle and its a digital injection device all u have to do is hold the device in chosen area and press the button and it does the rest, also u don't see the needle(idiot proof 4 me)ha ha R jay
