Star MS Trial
So, I have been offered / been enrolled on the StarMS trial. It’s a long shot but has anyone been on it, if so would they mind sharing their experience with it. I am very apprehensive, for those that don’t know it is a HSCT (Stem cell) trial involving a very intense process of chemotherapy and multiple other interventions but also meant to be very high efficacy if it works. The other option is Ocrevus which is have also been offered. They consider mine to be “highly active” (4 relapses in 4 months now) and think I would be suitable for it. Being only 21 I’m sure you can understand my uncertainty in voluntary enrolling into a course of very intense treatment and chemotherapy. Thank you and any information would be great
I don’t know much about this particular treatment but I do know that the NHS only offers expensive treatments like this unless they believe it has a high chance of success people pay thousands to have this treatment abroad my advice is to grab this opportunity with both hands
@prgirl Exactly that I’m thinking, as cliche as it sounds it’ll be short term pain for long term gain if it works. but on the other hand do I just take the easy option of Ocrevus and just have the infusion twice a year, granted there are side affects but it seems like nothing compared to this!
