Anxiety and MS

As a counsellor who lives with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and the anxiety caused by that disease, I have long realized that stressful situations aggravate my MS symptoms. When I travel, for example, I take a wheelchair, a walker, and canes because I never know which mobility aide I will need when I get to my destination. The uncertainty of what lies at the end of my trip is stressful enough to impact my balance and walking. That is why I find Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) so appealing. By using CBT techniques I can manage stressful times in my life and I can manage the MS symptoms so they are nothing more than a minor background annoyance. I am happy to share these techniques with my counselling clients.
