DMT stress
Hello everyone.
I was recently diagnosed with MS (July 2023) and given two options - Kesimpta or Ocverus. I instantly thought Ocverus would be the best fit because it happened once every 6 months. But my MS nurse is pushing Kesimpta. I was never asked , it was assumed in my MS call that I would be taking Kesimpta. She says they are the same drug, just differently administered. She warned me of the Ocverus waiting times and not being able to get a seat for an infusion. She told me they were having supply issues. I felt so overwhelmed. To be honest I am just scared. Can anyone tell me what their experiences of using Kesimpta and Ocverus? I am scared of the side effects as I have other medical considerations (my liver). Is Kesimpta delivered in batches? Am I getting stressed over nothing? Is the day of infusion for Ocverus okay? Or do you find freedom with the Kesimpta injection pen? Any issues of supply and does anyone experience the 'crap gap.' What's it like living being Immunosuppressant? So many questions...sorry. I'd like to hear your experiences. Thank you :0)
Hi, I am currently taking Ocrevus. A day at the hospital every 6 months isn’t fun, but I didn’t want to self inject anymore. So for me it’s been a good fit. I think Ocrevus is ever so slightly more efficacious. It maybe due to kesimpta being a newer drug, and the data hasn’t yet been fully verified. Depends on how you feel. A self injection once a month or 6 monthly trip to hospital. They both work on B cells. Kesimpta is cheaper for the NHS with similar results as Ocrevus. It’s probably why your team are encouraging the use of it. Perhaps that’s me being cynical, I’m sure they have your best interests at heart. All the best with your choice. It’s up to you. 👌
Hi I have been taking kesimpta for almost 18months now and not had any issues. I usually get 3 months delivered at a time and it is a monthly injection that takes less than a minute. I’ve not had any issues either with the immunosuppressed side of things but again I generally have a good immune system. It really is down to you though and what you find suits your lifestyle best. 😊
