Breast feeding w/ MS

I was diagnosed w/ MS when my baby was 6 weeks old. MY neuro allowed me breast feed my baby until she turned 4 months old, then I'm supposed to start Copaxone. The baby just turned 4 months old and the Copaxone is ready and waiting for me in the fridge... But I feel great and would like to continue breast feeding until the baby is 6 months old. I'm conflicted because I know how beneficial breast milk is for the baby and me (unending health benefits for baby, and reduced risk of breast and cervical cancer for me, etc, etc). But at the same time, I don't want to risk my own health. If you chose to breastfeed, how long did you do it for? I know everyone is different, but I just want to hear what others have experienced.

I think it was about 3 - 6 mths....(it was a long time ago) but I did not have MS at the time. If your MS is manageable at the moment, I'd say carry on! after all soon baby will be wanting solids or mush and then its a gradual decrease with the breast feeding anyway. Its not like your delaying it for YEARS is it? However best sound these things out with the MS nurse...

@mammamoose

I breast fed for well over 12 months! Do what you feel is right I felt great when I was pregnant and when I was breastfeeding too so enjoy bonding with your baby and, like @reddivine said it's not like you are delaying the meds for years.x
