Brabio severe reaction - Is it likely with Tecfidera
I was taking Brabio for just under 3 months. In that period I had 4 occasions were 3 ish hours after injecting I would get hot and cold chills and a bit of a fever that I would sit through for a couple of hours. The last time I injected I noticed that the injection was going in slower than usual and as soon as it was done I began to feel like my chest was closing up and I managed to go downstairs and alert my husband. My husband called the ambulance and while he waited I stopped breathing a few times and on one occasion he had to intervene and press on my chest. I had what appeared to be a severe allergic reaction.
Wanted to ask has anyone else experienced this and what information have they been given? My MS nurses just said stop taking the meds which I had figured out myself, but little insight was given.
I have to decide what I might want to take next, perhaps Tecfidera. The paperwork on this medication does indicate such severe allergic reactions and I am quite scared it will happen again.
@worldunite193gmailcom , I am so sorry that you suffered this reaction. Side-effects with drugs are documented in probabilities, i.e. 1 in 10 will suffer this, 1 in 100 will suffer that, etc.. Here's the Patient Information Leaflet, so you can read it yourself :- https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.9181.pdf We're all different and what works for one doesn't work for another. So, take this as a one off and hopefully you'll have better luck with another treatment.
