Increased support needs

I think I may need more than just a cane at the moment. I can walk for about 15m with the cane and stand up for about 5m. That's the time before my fall risk becomes a fall certainty and it's a 1/3 chance I'll pass out briefly with that too. I wouldn't be as worried about this if I didn't have to walk 25m twice a day to get to college and back, it's getting to the point where I am very barely able to get myself there and home and everytime I've walked lately I've gotten injured or have needed to sit down for x2 my walk duration before i feel just about safe enough to walk again. I try have somebody drive me home when I can but it only works for about 2 of the 10 total walks I'm doing in a week. I have insanely bad balance issues, vertigo, shortness of breath, exhaustion and random bouts of muscle weakness which I think may be contributing to this. I'm not exactly sure what would help besides obviously treatment for the cause, which they haven't found yet and perhaps a service dog or wheelchair but both are expensive and I am not able to hold a job to make any money to afford it along with not having a formal diagnosis which I think may make it hard to access those things. Any ideas on things that will help? I'm open to trying anything. Feel free to say I'm overreacting too, I may be because I'm pretty stressed at the moment 😅

@costella Hi Costella, I am sorry to hear what you are currently experiencing and how it is affecting your health, and no, you are not overreacting or anything like that. Have you spoken to your neurologist or MS nurse about this to see what treatment they can offer for you?

@MissWhy

It really is difficult to come to terms with a daily loss of your capacities: I get that too. I’ve used Motability’s support that my monthly Personal Independence Payments have enabled me to do. Do you know about it? It really has been a silver lining for me, and hopefully it may be for you too 🌤️
