Betaseron vs Copaxone

So we have started talking treatment options. Even though my results are most likely MS as everything else has been ruled out, we did talk about what to do next. The Neuro likes Betaseron and Copaxone but I wanted to reach out to see if anyone takes these, and what the good/bad/ugly are for them. He also told me I could try oral Aubagio, but he was more confident with the injectables. Thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Michelle

@aliza1999 , betaferon and Copaxone are regarded as first-line treatments. So, there are more effective treatments available. Try having a run through of this interactive tool, so that you can understand what is available:- https://www.mstrust.org.uk/understanding-ms/ms-symptoms-and-treatments/ms-decisions/decision-aid The tool has been built primarily for the UK, but if you pretend to be a temporary UK citizen, it should help you. At the end of the day, it's your condition and should be your decision. There's a lot of present thinking that says hit it hard and hit it fast to effectively control the MS.

Thanks, @stumbler That's a great link. I am really not looking forward to injections, but I don't think I have much choice. I will have to read the propaganda, I mean pamphlets, the doctor gave me and also do a little online research before I decide. This was my first episode/flair so who knows if or when I will have another one. I don't want to brush this off and think I have years when it could be months before another flair. But I also wonder since the only conclusive result was the MRI of the brain. The neck and spine are fine, the lumbar puncture and all blood work are normal. I do have 2 + 2 o-bands (2 in CSF alone, 2 paired in CSF and serum), but he says he would have felt more certain with 4 paired o-bands. Looks like I will have a lot to think about...
