Am I being selfish?

Hi guys, My ms is going to the next level now, I can hardly walk, can’t do simple jobs like hoovering as I fall over, everything is so so difficult, but I still manage to work a few hours a week, but now things have got even harder as my husband is going through treatment for bowel cancer. So my carer has now become someone I care for, which is exceptionally difficult. Does anyone on here have experience of that and perhaps give me some advice about how to deal with it all?

I would try and get a care package, that's what I have been told to do. Sorry about your husband and thar you are finding things hard. Happy to talk if you need to.

Hi @Scrappydoo - you are not being selfish! You are bound to have a reaction to your husbands health condition, and whilst you may want to support him, your symptoms are only likely to increase because of all the stress! My advice is to be realistic and talk to him and his treatment provider to see if you are eligible for any help. Is it possible to prioritise the things that you can each do to help one another, and get some additional support, even on a temporary basis, from elsewhere. You do need to think about yourself and take good care to ensure that these new worries don’t take their toll on your mobility and mental health. Hopefully you can work this out together and get some support from friends, family, nhs and social care. I hope things improve for you soon.
