MS and pregnancy

I’m 38 yo with 15 years in with RR MS. I’m doing well, with almost five years since my last relapse. For three years I have been on Ocrevus medication, which works well for me. No new lesions etc. I always thought that pregnancy and being a parent just isn’t something that is possible for me, and I have been okay with that. But recently I’ve been thinking that maybe this is something that would after all be possible. Maybe it’s also an age thing, when almost 40yo, but it’s a conversation I need to have with myself because soon it will be too late. I would like hear if anybody has experience with ms and pregnancy. Did you need to quit all of the medications, how did it affect you etc. Really appreciate your help.

Hi @Ninabea , I was diagnosed with MS 6 years ago and I now have a 3 year old daughter. I was on Copaxone while pregnant and continued with it throughout pregnancy. It was originally advised to stop taking it before trying to conceive, however my MS nurse informed me that there were many women who had healthy babies who were on it thoughout and now has recently been deemed safe in pregnancy. However, unfortunately many medications can't/won't be tested in pregnancy for moral reasons. It's a good idea to speak to your MS nurse if you are thinking about trying for a baby as they can give you the best advice in regards to your treatment and t Pregnancy. Good luck x

I've have MS for a while now too I too thought having babies was not in my books either it took a while to get any medication so for years I was not on any until now. I'm 38 as well (I believe my profile shows a different age) I got pregnant at 35 with my son everything was smooth just my normal leg tingles and numbness delivery went smooth as well I was able to deliver naturally. On his 1st bday I was surprised to find out I was pregnant again (37) babygirl. No complications on either one. I do have difficulty walking but I had that before getting pregnant so I did spend both pregnancy in a wheelchair.
