DMD's

Hi, diagnosed Aug 21, in denial - refused meds. Now almost certainly having a sensory relapse (numb face/side of head -how long will this last!!) and the anxiety is off the scale. They don't want to give steroids as it's 'just sensory'. :( My question is that I have only really been offered plegridy as I'm not 'eligible' for others and they suggest that's the best choice due to frequency of injections. I only see bad things about plegridy but looking at other DMD's they all come with horrible side effects.. any advice please? I'd prefer a tablet! Thanks x

Hi, i was diagnosed in 2009, rrms, at 29yrs old i thought, nar this cant be right! But unfortunately it was, im lucky enough to of not had any relapses since being diagnosed, 13yrs and still going strong, i feel fit and healthy, im a scaffolder by trade since leaving school at 16. I started on rebif medication, (3 jabs per week) changed to plegridy 6 years ago and wouldnt change to anything else, 1 jab every 14 days, so the horror stories you hear maybe of people of which havent been given the correct drug. I was taking tecdaferia (tablet form) for 6 months when i was offered it while still on rebif, as i didnt really like having injections, tablet form seemed like a great idea, wrong decision from me as i hated it, hot/cold body flushes, weight gain, sleep depraved, when they offered me plegridy i jumped at the chance. Go for it, it might be a great medication for 'you'

@lee1989 makes a lot of sense. The steriods will make ur anxiety worse so maybe that’s a plus in disguise and some of my main symptoms are sensory so it might not be a relapse just a flare which could be caused by lots of different things that are all pretty normal infection, sleep deprivation, fatigue, stress etc none of the dmts are perfect they all come with side effects but what u will or won’t experience is very individual it’s ur body, ur choice and if u try it and don’t like u can always change ur mind honestly it’s as simple as that. Hope this helps in some way. Take care of urself
