Recently diagnosed with remitting/relapsing.

Hey, not sure how to go about this. All very raw, all very new. Male, 27, single and rubbish at reading maps. Anyway... As the post says I was recently diagnosed after two years of back and fourth between was seemed like endless people. Can't say I'm angry, confused, scared, but hopeful that it won't be the undoing of me. Very early days and I'm about to be put into contact with treatment. Any advice you can give me would be grateful. What warning signs or helpful tips can you share. Stay strong people.

Hi @MStake, welcome to Shift! It's a great site, whether newly diagnosed or not. I assume you've used the search on here; if not, type in 'newly diagnosed' and it will bring up previous posts. Sounds like you've taken it on the chin OK. But, acknowledge that it usually takes up to a year to fully process. At least you're on course to start treatment; again, you can search for all the DMDs available in the UK. Some golden rules; don't Google, try and eat healthy, don't smoke, and don't rush any decisions! Try to exercise within your limits, and don't overdo it. I's easy to try and prove you can still do things, but to be honest, just try to take one day at a time for now, it's all new. It's a real bummer to be diagnosed, but there is a lot of help and support, and bright and shiny new treatments on the horizon all the time. Treat yourself well, and always ask any questions, someone will always have an answer or suggestion! Take care, stay strong and keep smiling! x

Listen to yr body although I find that hard still but meaning when Im tired I should rest.. try to minimise n keep stress down or managing techniques MS nurse initially would throw the word yoga at me & stress management & I didn't understand but its just ways of calming the mind & uplifting yrself.. I was overly stressing & dont think it helped my MS Other than that just take it easy don't worry :) mindset is so important with this (Something I'm learning.)
