Meeting with my MS. nurse tomorrow, what do you think I should ask?
Hi there, recently diagnosed and finally I've been given a local MS. nurse. Do you have any advice on the buring questions I should ask. I know I am going to discuss my treatment option. Would they be able to advise on any support e.g., financial help should I need to take time away from work. I currently work in a secondary school and can find it often too much when the fatigue sets in. Thanks!
Update*
Met with my MS nurse for the first time. Really lovely lady who spent around 30mins talking to me and explaining some of the reasons for the problems I've been having. Mentioned my current fatigue and aches and shakes. Said these were all completely normal and I might have pushed my body to far recently. Told me it was a possible flare up and I needed to find a new normal for me. Super reassuring and sorted out my upcoming medication which I was due to start. It's incredibly hard to explain what this process is like to live with as I'm constantly questioning if it's my body or my MS. Nice to know I'm not going mad.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
There's some good advice how to prep for appointments on the MS Trust website if you haven't looked there already. It also tells you what responsibilities MS nurses have and what they can help with. Mine is always in a rush so I can't imagine her talking about financial help, I think charities are probably much better at this. The nurse might give you ideas how to deal with fatigue though. You will be always able to contact them later with questions so don't worry if you can't think of many now. Good luck with the appointment!
Hi. I would recommend writing any burning questions down. If the nurse can’t answer the question they are pretty good at sign posting you in the right direction. Good luck 😉.
