Pregnancy decisions, help?!

Hey, First time using shift MS so a bit nervous, but here we go. I have early secondary progressive, after originally being diagnosed with RRMS 5 years ago. I'm late 20s and last month I got married to my now husband, after being together for 10 years. We are now having conversations around if we would like to start trying to have a baby and I was just hoping to speak with anyone that made the decision to have a baby after being diagnosed with MS. I'd love nothing more than to be a Mum but can't help but feel selfish that the child won't have as active of a Mum as other children, am I overthinking it? Just really hoping for a very small piece of advice as I'm now lost for where else to go too! Everything I read online seems to be horror stories and I'm just really hoping that there are positive stories that people would be willing to share 🫠🥲 #pregnancy #parenthood #support

Hi 👋 I was diagnosed with RRMS in October 2020 and started taking Tysabri. As I write this message i have my three week old son in front of me. I often wondered if it would ever be possible for me and if it was fair for the child. I found it helpful to speak to my consultant who ensured me that having MS shouldn't stop you from having a family if you want. My pregnancy was straightforward and I was given extra scans due to the treatment I was on but everything went smoothy. Obviously I don't have a crystal ball and don't know what the future holds but belive that you need to follow the dreams you have to start a family or it might be something you regret in years to come if you miss out on that opportunity. I would talk with MS nurses and consultant as they'll have dealt with people in the same situation.

Hi! Thank you so much for this, and huge congratulations!! I spoke to my nurse today and she recommended that I look at putting something on shift MS to hear positive stories, so I'm so pleased I did 🥰 I hope you don't mind me asking this but have you needed to put extra planning in place for the next few months while relapse risk is slightly higher? Thank you again for responding! @Samg276 😊
