New to MS

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed in September of this year. I have 8 brain lesions and 3 spinal. Two of which are right at the base of my skull and the third is further down between my shoulders. My flare started after a cupping session at the spa I work at. A few days later, everytime I looked down my diaphragm would get super tingly. Soon it progressed to my left arm and hand and both legs. Went to the ER, did the MRI, and there it was. Spent 3 days in the hospital getting steroids then two more days outpatient steroids and I felt much better. These days the symptoms are extremely stiff knees, pins and needles in my left hand constantly, cog fog, lightheaded ness, low back pain, bladder irritation, and just all around feeling blah. I’ve had it now for 10+ years, they think. Strange how I never knew. I’m pretty depressed about it, but also a bit relieved, tracing my mild symptoms of something off about me back to probably around that time. I met a few people with MS on Facebook but decided to try this place out too. I’m currently on Kesimpta and will be starting my monthly dose on the 30th. I’ve been eating better and doing yoga. I’m married to a wonderful and supportive husband. Hope to meet some people on my med with RRMS.

There is a form of relief in finally knowing what to call it—-knowing that there is something tangibly responsible for all this stuff. I’m glad you are set to start your treatment. Yoga is super good for MS issues. I am on Tysabri, but just wanted to say hello! And Merry Christmas. Don’t let MS steal your joy!

I totally agree with you . Thee was an element of relief of finally finding out and putting a name to it . Then there is an element of fear of what the future holds. But regardless of what MS throws at you , you build up a resilience and I promise you that whilst things are harder and you may find that you can’t do certain things you will adapt your life to it . We still have an important life to live and we still make a difference. So believe in yourself, get the support and help you need and you will be fine I promise you . 😊x
