Sleep problems

Hi everyone, Hope everyone's doing well. I'm looking for a bit of advice around sleep problems. I've never really had sleep issues at all, but since my diagnosis in April, I've been having really disturbed sleep. I don't struggle with actually falling asleep as I'm usually so knackered, but the problem arises with staying asleep. I'm often waking up multiple times in the night (sometimes due to my bladder but sometimes not) and then I really struggle to get to sleep again. My brain starts whirring away and the anxious thoughts seep in. In the weeks/months after the diagnosis I often found that the anxious thoughts were about all the worst case scenarios that could arise with my disease. Those specific thoughts have eased off a bit now thankfully, but still it's so hard to get back to sleep and I find myself worrying about other stuff (how tired I'll be the next day, stuff I have to do for work, worrying about other people, literally anything!). Has anyone experienced similar issues, and if so do you have any advice? Any supplements/sleeping aids? It's really getting to me as I wake up feeling exhausted most days (on top of the usual MS fatigue) and my ability to concentrate is then crap. It's a total vicious cycle too as the more it happens, the more anxious I get about going to sleep, which then affects my sleep! Aargh! Take care all x

Hi @Farah94 likewise I was really struggling to get to sleep, especially for me during the 'diagnosis process'. I had a mixture of brain overload, sharp electric shock stabby pains then urgent loo breaks as you say after a while it all becomes a bit of a vicious circle. In the end I went to the Doctors due to the sharp electric shock stabby pains and ended up been prescribed amitriptyline which I was advised can make you sleepy .... so now I take an amitriptyline have some CBD oil a shower and then go to bed in a cool bedroom and I sleep really well now (my wife certainly thinks a bit too well tbh), I did notice too that been too hot in bed also did have an adverse affect on my sleeping so I try to keep the bedroom cool as possible (which is sort of counter intuitive but it of works for me).

@SIMONA2

Hi, I use to take melatonin tablets which helps but the other reply said CBD oil is good just make sure you buy 10 per cent or over in strength I now use cannabis because I get terrible nerve pain mainly at night and I can get a good night sleep
