Real vs psychosomatic symptoms?

Hello all! Has anyone experienced a worsening of a certain symptom or the creation of a symptom because you’ve fixated on it? I feel that’s happening with the spasms in my torso, but I can’t always tell when and why they happen. Also anyone thinking that MS makes them feel crazy? Sometimes meds work. Sometimes I feel completely normal. Sometimes I crash hard and I feel there’s no root cause other than just to say “I have MS.” Feeling a bit lost atm. I have my follow up appointment on Thursday (6/16 or 16/6) and I sent a long list of things I was struggling with but those symptoms have calmed down since then. Recovering from a major relapse is really confusing. Thanks for considering.

Hi @Ematt0426, I am recently diagnosed but kind of have the opposite after the doctors refused to take me seriously and told me that I was just making it all up, for nearly 18 months basically ‘ take the strong painkillers and go away’ Because of that I have trouble accepting that I am actually ill. I still think that I am going to wake up one morning and it’s all going to have gone away or the neurologist is just going to turn around and say ‘no all a mistake, it’s all in your head’ somedays I try to act like I’m still normal but it never goes well!

Hi. Since my MS was suspected I think I have started to except symptoms (such as fatigue),rather than trying to always fight it, or brush the symptoms aside. It sounds like the journey of acceptance rather than fixation may have begun for you 🤷‍♀️. This is totally okay to go through. If you think you are experiencing new symptoms I think it’s worth checking with your health care provider. Us MSers definitely need lots of TLC and reassurance. Understandably 🫶.
