Multiple Sclerosis and other chronic illness

Hi everybody, I'm just wondering how many of us deal with MS in addition to other chronic illnesses? For the most part, I'm very positive, but it gets challenging at times. I have rrms, and was diagnosed with Cancer about a year ago. I also deal with anxiety and depression. Both are under control now. **Not looking for sympathy, I'm just curious.

Hi @Cheryl, things sound tough. I have another autoimmune disease. Apparently having 3 can be quite common. I know you said you don’t want sympathy, but I want to say you are a hero, for dealing with all that. You sound amazing.

Hi Cheryl and welcome! I was diagnosed with rrms a couple of years ago - just 12 months after I’d had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. You know how it feels when you think to yourself - well I’ve had my ‘big thing’ now so maybe it’ll be plain sailing from now on - not likely!!! There is always something else just around the corner to challenge us I think. My heart surgery effects the kind of DMT I can have and of course I do have a replacement to look forward to in a few years 🙄Whilst the heart thing can be very scary I think it’s my ms that has changed my life the most. How do you manage your cancer treatment? My neurologist told me that he has to treat ms patients throughout their lives so some other disease challenge is always likely to turn up and actually he made it all sound so positive. Your post sounded rather matter-of-fact so I feel you’ve got your head in the right place to deal with these things - you’re a shining light ⭐️ Xx
