Advice needed for MS diagnosis

My partner has been suffering with problems with his legs for around 8 years now although in the last 18 months things are getting a lot worse he can no longer walk for more than 10 minutes. He stumbles, trips and has fallen many times he's been to and from the doctors several times they have told him it was nothing. I'm June he had a nasty fall, bruised all his arms, legs and nose so I said enough was enough and he went to the doctors again. The doctors referred him to a Neurologist we are still waiting for an appointment in the mean time he developed blurred vision in one eye and has been diagnosed to have Optic Neuritis. We do not have a diagnosis of MS and are awaiting an MRI. I'm a mother of two young boys and I'm really struggling at the moment. Can any one give me any help/advice about family life with MS and being diagnosed.

Hi, I am newly diagnosed. I was walking like a drunk and had balance and coordination issues. I skipped the visit to the GP and went straight to a neurologist. He sent me to get an MRI. There were many lesions on my brain so he sent me to the hospital. They did further procedures: EEG, eye examination, lumbar puncture, spinal cord MRI and took some blood as well. They put me on a heavy course of steroids. My symptoms improved but the doctors are not satisfied with the result. Now I am waiting to be scheduled for plasmapheresis before they can starts further treatment. My advice is to be patient. Take one day at the time. I assume that your husband will need physiotherapy to streghten his legs. He's lucky to have you to support him through this journey :)

Thank you so much for your reply,I feel so alone in this it's just nice to know someone has read this and replied. I will support him in any way possible,it's just frustrating that the doctors had listened sooner. He describes it to me that he feels drunk! I'm sure but the looks people give him s lot of the time that they think he's drunk. His walking is awful at the moment, are there treatments to help? Or do things just get worse as time goes on?
