Bad experience at work

Hi has anyone else ever had a bad experience at work when they’ve had to tell an employer they have ms. I’m a qualified nursery teacher and I’ve worked for this company before I was and wasn’t diagnosed until after I started with them , so once I knew I had RRMS I told them straight away gave them notes from my doctor who said I was still fit to work so that was fine I was to be back at work after being in hospital (when I was finally diagnosed) so I did I went back part time for two week initially after 2 weeks I went back to 40 hours a week , I was back at work for 4/5 months where I caught a vomiting bug working with kids it happens especially since I work in a baby room. I had one day off due to this followed my procedures correctly off notifying them that I wouldn’t be in I went back to work on the Monday after only having the Friday off where I was pulled into the office and fired the words my manager used was “ we don’t want anyone with you’re illness working for the company” I tried to explain that my illness had nothing to do with why I was off and tried to explain I had a vomiting bug but she wouldn’t listen and told me to leave so I did but that absolutely broke me down I’ve done this job a long time it’s the only job I know and now feel like I’m not good enough anymore because of my diagnosis. Has anyone else had to deal with something like this before.

Is that even allowed to fire someone directly for having an illness? In the US they would at least come up with some other BS excuse to fire you, but never actually saying it’s due to someone having MS because that could be taken as discrimination. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this.

@crazylady

So sorry to hear this. Surely this is not allowed to be fired over an illness. You should talk to someone and get some info. It's so sad that we are being ill treated for something that is out of our control. I hope you get some answers and get it resolved. Chin up don't let this bring you down, hold your head up high and keep going.
