alcohol and ms

So I have had this ms for, if I’m being honest, 30 years. It’s been really quiet but now I’m 50 and so approaching menopause as well I suppose yay. Anyway I am Dizzy and this dizziness comes and goes randomly. I have always enjoyed cocktails and wine and now when I have even a couple of sips it goes straight to my head and I have trouble holding myself together. So when in public and having a drink I am prone to having a panic attack because I’m afraid I’m going to fall or pass out. Why am I so dizzy!? This seems to be a residual symptom from my last relapse one year ago. Although my mri a week ago did show a highlighting lesion which I’m told means very recent activity. What is anybody’s guess what is going on. Maybe I should not be drinking?

@angieh , it is anyone's guess as to what's going on with your MS. Unfortunately, it is unpredictable and capable of affecting any part of your body and your senses. Anyway, the hormonal confusion in your body, known as the menopause, will be causing their own set of problems. MS is affected by increases in core body temperature, which I believe may be synonymous with hot flushes. Your concern for what's going on and your reaction to alcohol is probably exacerbating the situation. Just beware of this problem, take the necessary care of yourself and get on with your life, the way you want to live it.

@PeterFrancis

I gave up on alcohol quite a while ago, long before MS was even a a thing for me personally. I''m not against alcohol at all, it just does/did nothing for me, once I'd found and reaped the benefits of cannabis it was ciao, ciao, ciao alcohol.
