Pain!!

Hi, been a very long time since I’ve posted here and truth be told I’m not a frequent visitor either. I’m one of those that prefers to shut up and get on with it type people. Getting older and the symptoms are really starting to dig in now unfortunately. I’m curious how people deal with constant chronic pain, I’ve pretty much always had pain but recently things are getting far far worse. I have been in contact with health care professionals (once a year) but not getting anywhere fast. I have tried a fair amount of the usual suspect drugs but I either get a bad reaction or they do nothing to help. Got to the point that my neurologist and doctors just keep recycling the same meds expecting different results. As I’ve said I’m pretty much a shut up and get on with it type person but I am at the point where it’s getting pretty intolerable but I can’t seem to get myself heard, even my family seems to think I’m indestructible. I have always had an extremely considerable high pain threshold which has served me extremely well in the past but I think in the long run it has been my undoing, I know others in my situation who get help with all sorts of things whilst I get absolutely nothing and anything I did have has been taken away. Example:- I used to get financial help from the government but they sent some people to my house whom pretty much determined I could stand up and sit down plus talk to them so no longer needed help, totally disregarded the extreme pain I was fighting at the time. Just wondering if anybody else is or has been in my situation has delt with this.

Hi @xeno, I have nerve damage and severe pain across my stomach and the only thing that helps are Versatis 700mg medicated plasters. I tried all the usual pain killers the doctors prescribe, but only oramorph helped. Unfortunately it also meant I was fast asleep in minutes!!! These plasters are Lidocaine, I put one on in the morning and have 12 hours of mostly pain free life. I promise I'm not on commission!!!

Hi I don't take any medication for pain because I get terrible side affects but get terrible nerve pain, I take cannabis with a vaporiser it's amazing how quick it takes the pain off, I have also taken CBD oil which helps with pain it works for some people and not for everyone, I saw a nurse at the pain clinic she told me about an app called insight timer and told me to try the meditation to help relieve pain I didn't think it would work but it does, you need to keep listening to it, a few times and it does work I also use a tens machine for pain if you use it every day for an hour I was told to build it up in your body, I have just started having acupuncture and that as helped with my pain as you can see I have tryed lots of things it is terrible having pain I can be fine one minute and be in agony the next, hope you managed to find something for your pain
