Fatigue?!

Hi everyone :) I recently posted about my experience of fatigue and asked about people’s experience of taking time off work. I had so many lovely and encouraging replies, thank you all so much. I just wanted to post a little follow up in the hopes it might help someone else! So after months and months of struggling with unexplained tiredness, no motivation for anything, awful concentration and inability to focus, feeling really flat and lethargic, I’d finally had enough and realised I needed to take some time out to look after myself. I went to my GP and asked for a fit note to take some time off work but also asked for some routine blood tests as I’ve been low on iron in the past. After all these months, it’s turns out that I have actually been anaemic and really low on folate this whole time, so my body has not been getting enough oxygen to function as it should. I feel so annoyed because I’ve been feeling horrible for so long, assuming it’s just MS and not a lot I can do about it, but also massively relieved because it turns out to be an easy fix! I just wanted to share this and urge people not to rule out getting routine checks done, assuming that it’s always MS that’s making you feel so crappy! I have also read that Celiac disease is quite common in people with MS and low folate/anaemia can be a sign of this, so definitely another avenue to explore! Here’s hoping it might be helpful to someone else and encourage people to get checked out 😊
