Brain fog / cognitive ability

I've been really struggling recently with my ability to think, listen, or explain things clearly. I have spent the past week trying to write a to-do list for a project that should have only taken me a day or two! I only have to start looking at the list and I can feel myself getting anxious and confused really quickly. Especially if someone asks me to explain something, or if they try to explain something to me. I have to ask them to repeat themselves or clarify what they mean etc - and when I *finally* understand I can see that it was actually something quite simple and I should probably have understood the first time around. I'm starting to seriously worry about how my MS is affecting my cognitive ability for these things. Does anyone have any tips on how to overcome this? Or is it time to consider work that is less taxing on the brain?!

Hi mate . I can relate to your situation . I had a fairly demanding job in the Manufacturing industry and I really struggled with cognitive issues . The problem I had is I didn’t know I had MS at the time and in reality convinced myself I’d ‘ lost it and couldn’t handle the job any longer ‘ - I subsequently demoted myself . Anyways , my point is , don’t give up , you absolutely can still do your job , it’s just MS will make it different , it may take longer to do shit and you won’t be as sharp as you used to be , but you haven’t stopped being able to do a job , the approach will just need to change because of MS . I wish I’d of known this before I was diagnosed . My resounding answer to your question is ‘ no , not yet you may regret it ‘ all the best

Hi Gareth. I keep a notebook with me at work and write down every detaiks, email, conversation so I can look back to it. I don't ask a million times, but refer back to my notes. Not the best solution, but it also helps me as an OT exercise to work my finger and hands
