Mavenclad / Cladribine and cancer — would you?

Need some advice. I was diagnosed with RRMS in June, discussions w neuro led to Mavenclad. I like the efficacy it promises, and is something that my hospitalisation insurance will likely be able to cover. Daily meds… would not. However! Bc life is sometimes a cosmic joke, I also found out in Oct that I have breast cancer so all MS-related treatment is being postponed to deal with the Bigger Bad. Maybe we’ll look into it again in Q3/Q4. My question is — would you do Mavenclad knowing it’s got a small (but existing increased) risk in cancer? I asked my onco, and he said “tbh anything that involves stimulating the immune system carries that risk”. Are there other treatment options that you think make more sense? (Today was my last chemo sesh, woohoo!)
@Runningonempty

Firstly I’m sorry that u r in such a crappy position that really sucks and secondly well done for getting through the chemo!!!🎉 That takes guts, strength & determination!! Erm like the chemo all the DMTs have risks and side effects but kesimpta is a repurposed cancer med. lemtrada is basically like a chemo infusion and ocrevus is parallel to kesimpta but is a newer dmt so less info than others currently. They are the more effective DMT’s. The ms trust website is a really great site that has all current info on DMTs and has a decision making helping tool where u can compare different treatments, their side effects etc Maybe if u can work out which ones your insurance will cover, which ones you feel comfortable with and then have a chat with your neuro again to discuss the best option concerning ur current health/condition. While I haven’t had chemo I try to do the same when I have my review with the neuro that treats me as while we don’t have the insurance issue in the uk we have funding criteria and eligibility criteria which restricts what DMTS we can access as individuals. I hope this makes sense & helps a little. Hope u have a great support network around u that u can discuss what’s the best decision for you with & good luck with everything🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Thank you @runningonempty ! A decision making tool is such a win considering the hints of MS executive dysfunction that trouble me
