Not sure which path to take

Saw Neuro back in May he thought I had MS and said well we will do an MRI before we think about an LP etc, my MRI came back clear, saw Gp for results, she said well I thought it was MS and so did Neuro, puzzled now. On my request she gave me Amtriptyline as was having trouble walking, sleeping etc. Went back for follow up, asked her what other tests she could do in view of clear MRI. She said she had tested for everything and said I still thank it's MS. Will req Neuro keeps you on his books and do annual MRI's and keep a symptom diary. The thing is, do I keep with Neuro at my local hospital who is an Epilepsy specialist or ask if I can go see the MS specialist in the next city , who's hospital also have a stronger MRI machine? My symptoms are better now I am on the Amtriptyline, but still effect my everyday life. Gp says she can treat my symptoms but unless something drastic happens, it's just a waiting game. Also wondering if it's worth having a LP, if it came back positive would it help the Dx, if my symptons remain 'mild'? Sorry to rant on, but feel like my life is on hold D

An LP can check for O Bands. From what I've heard, O Bands appearing in the LP is a pretty good indicator for positive MS dx. You can always go to a specialist and SHOULD if you think that MS is the problem. So go to the specialist. What's the worst that could happen, really? Another negative? Well then you can start looking at what else could be causing the problem.

My neuro told me what he thought it could be, or what he suspected!! My understanding is a LP with positive O bands is a good indicator of MS. I think there are other conditions that do show up as positive too. Dunno it you have a positive LP and clear MRI what that means. Was it just a brain MRI or was it spine too?? As globetrotter says, 'be strong and stay calm'.
