At 33 years old smack dab in the middle of Alberta Canada which happens to be the MS hot zone of the world. I am noticing there is almost nobody from Alberta on this website which is very confusing to me! Anyway... I have been suffering for well over 10 years and I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of doctors. when I fell very ill and had trouble functioning at 24 years old I was told time and time again there's nothing wrong with me then was sent on my way. I finally got a break when a stomach specialist I was seeing heard my story and sent me to a neurologist very quickly. I went to the neurologist and he talked with me for about 1 minute and then said that it was clear my problems were psychological and that there was nothing wrong with me. He told me he would do an MRI and if it didn't show anything I would never hear from him again. I never heard from him again and my problems only got worse. 5 years later I ended up in the emergency room and couldn't even walk and had no feeling on the left side of my body. The emergency physician told me there was nothing wrong with me which is about the 200th time I had been told this even though I couldn't even walk lol My partner and daughter were by my side and they pleaded for something to be done, so the physician went begrudgingly and looked at my history. My MRI from 2008 was on file and had comments from the specialist I saw about how I clearly have a severe case of MS. After that I was rushed to see an emergency neurologist and she basically told me to go home and die because there are no treatments available that can reverse what has been done. it was quite disappointing that after 10 years of searching for answers from doctors who belittled my problems and talked down to me, this is what I was told. :-( There is a lot more to the story that I'm not going to get into but 3 years later I am 5000 % improved and lead a perfectly normal life with almost no ms effects at all. The answers are out there, it took me literally 1 minute to find them once I have been diagnosed lol Good luck everyone with your journey of shadow and light!
