MS & Pregnancy

Hi all - Newly diagnosed and newly knocked up! Just wondering what peoples experiences have been have MS and being Pregnant at the same time. I've been told that youre less likely to have a relapse when pregnant but you have a high chance of a relapse afterwards. At the moment I've got sharp pains down my left leg which is believe is a symptom. I haven't started my treatment yet (thats next week, Copaxone). Any advice/tips/experiences is much appreciated. Thank you

congratulations on the baby. my first symptoms started (optic neuritis) towards the end of my pregnancy with my daughter back in 2013, after she was born I had other odd sensory symptoms, like when I was changing her for example if I bent my neck down to look at her I’d get shooting pains though my arms, and leg tingles when I walked. My antibody levels were always high during that pregnancy and they couldn’t figure out why, but then when I was diagnosed with ms in 2014 it made complete sense. my next pregnancy I was extremely lucky, antibody levels normal throughout, and no relapse after either. Hope all goes well for you x

Most people are diagnosed around time you want to have a baby. Both my pregnancies were great. No relapses. I had quite a few things leading to both pregnancies and then you really live in the moment when you have baby. Just try and get as much rest when baby is born... sleep when baby sleeps! Good luck!
