Amitriptyline

Howdy… Amitriptyline was offered to me when I was first diagnosed and complaining about one thing or another. I had a lot to take in at the time so I said no, but recently it’s been offered again as an option to relieve a few different things I got going on MS wise. Truth be told I suffer from anxiety and depression but have always been such a shy little squirrel at opening up, even to a doctor, so have never really gone down the antidepressant route, even though I probably should’ve many moons ago… I know it’s dependent on dosage, but to all my pals out there who have been on it for MS nerve pain purposes, how have you found it for mental health too (good and bad pls), and also how have you found it with your DMT, brownie points if you can tell me how you’ve found it specifically with Tecfidera. Thanks x
@Vixen

Hi @alrian, I've taken Ami for many years to control my headaches and it's really effective for that, even at a low dose. I believe it's effective for anxiety too. It can cause drowsiness, mornings can be tricky. For me, the key is to take it two hours before bedtime or 10/12 hours before you get up. I take Tecfidera too, no issues there ate all :-)

@WinchesterMark

hi @alrian ditto for me too take a low dose at night time for nerve pain and to help me sleep / stop getting woken up with the nerve pain. Like Vixen says no probs for me too, but that said I'm currently not taking any DMTs but my MS nurses discussing them have never mentioned any probs taking both.
