Smouldering MS
Has anyone read Prof G on "smouldering MS"? In short, he broadly rejects the concepts of RRMS and PMS, and says we overstate the importance of MRIs and NEIDA. He argues that MS "smoulders", by which he means it constantly advances slowly, at a pace that is imperceptable on MRI scans, and that our focus should therefore be on managing symptoms holistically via exercise, diet, social life and sleep.
It's a pretty game-changing proposition. I'm just wondering what others think of it.

I found this really interesting as I feel mine is presenting as smouldering MS but was wondering whether the diagnosis should have been SPMS not RRMS. This makes much more sense to me for how I am experiencing MS. I also hadn't heard of his work before. Thanks for putting it out there. What are your thoughts?
@PoppyP Well he isn't some random YouTube quack, he's an MS neurologist from Barts so he does know what he's talking about. I'm not really sure I'm confident enough to argue either way if there's actual biological research involved. My only question would be to what point the gentle, gradual deterioration can be put down to MS and how much of it is just ageing? When you think about it, life is the ultimate degenerative illness 🤣
