PIP - Any Positive Stories? Scared to Apply
Hi all, I was dx RRMS about 5 years ago and it was suggested I had probably had MS for 25 years based on clinical history. It was a big relapse needing hospitalisation that led to dx. MRI wise am relapse free since dx but the last 2 years have noticed a decline in pretty much everything and Neuro has upped my disability scale by 2 points :( Everyone is saying I should get PIP but I'm scared to apply. I don't have much evidence because it's so long a wait to access services, although am seeing neuro physio and will ask her to write me something. It seems pointless to try for PIP. I only ever see bad experience stories from everyone with MS! Has anyone actually had a straightforward, successful claim? I would be hoping to get maybe lower rate on both, issues with washing, toileting, going out/socialising, managing drugs/therapy and walking and so on. I basically save my spoons for days when I *have* to go out, like food shop. I have a couple of friends I see in person now and again but am always cancelling plans due to fatigue, pain, worries about continence. Really, without loads of evidence, is there even any point? I don't have the emotional or mental capability for a huge battle as have a lot going on in the family too and am also waiting to start counselling. I would really appreciate hearing of any positive experiences if anyone is happy to share, thankyou x
Definitely apply. Sometimes we need support, and we shouldn’t have to feel bad or apologise. We have a long term health condition. I would recommend getting support to complete the appropriate forms. I think citizens advice can be helpful. Why it is soo difficult for genuine people, is beyond me. Money! You are entitled to apply. Good luck.
Yes I was successful with pip and they gave me 10 years before they want to see me again you must remember not to stress out about getting pip you must remember you are probably entitled to it don't let them put you off the citizens advice bureau is a wonderful place to go to help fill in the form.. also your local Ms nurse should have contacts to help you .. best of luck and don't stress out about it
