Travel - Immunisations for Latin America

Hello All, been a while, largely due to the following. So, i'm off to South America in about 6ish weeks, for work primarily, then following up with a (in my belief much needed) break. i'm going backpacking down to Argentina then back up through Chile to Bolivia and to Peru before coming back home. I've been asking my MS nurse and GP for information on the immunisations i need, but been wondering what advice anyone else has been given. I am on DMT and at the moment (i've gotten the ms nurse to request enough medication to cover the trip at least!) i'm still active and healthy which is why i'm taking this extra trip now, rather than waiting any longer. Has anyone had any issues with immunisations for any of these countries i should be concerned about? or any tips that i might need to take into consideration. I've seen some concerns about Yellow fever vaccine, but not many others. And yes, i know it would have been better to have this sorted months ago, but like most work things it ends up being 'last minute'. sigh. Thanks all.
@sarabeth

finally found the perfect thread for my question and noone ever responded! hi! how was the trip in the end? Its been a life long dream of mine to travel and I don't have the funds to do so now but in 2 yra hopefully. i am worried that taking inactive vaccines on dmt may not make them as reliable. also scared of getting ill abroad, how was ur experience?

Sorry for the delay in response, just seen this Hey - trip was great! Only thing I struggled with was I couldn’t have yellow fever vaccine as it is an active vaccine - this meant when a colleague asked if i was interested in joining them in travelling up to the pantanal in Brazil I couldn’t. But otherwise a really good trip. Some things I’d recommend- Space the immunizations out so it’s not overloading you getting up to speed and you still have energy for say packing or planning Build in some days that are ‘do nothing/get your washing done and check out wherever you are’ so you can be able to give your body time to recover Be aware that altitude sickness can be quite overwhelming so don’t try to take it in stages if doing Peru/Bolivia things like macchu picchu and lake titicaca etc. I had no problems with all the vaccines I took in the end, but was a bit cautious anyway. Hope you enjoy the trip and feel free to message if you wanna discuss further :)
