Answer: The BEST Diet for MS

What is the best diet for MS? I’m in a few MS groups. I was in a few dozen more, but there’s sadly a lot of misinformation, extremists, and negativity when it comes to MS nutrition. Some promote a carnivore diet. Some promote keto. Others promote a paleo approach. There’s also a group of people that’s 100% plant based, and others that are modified Pescatarian. I’m going to be in the minority here. There’s really no right or wrong diet. It is individual to each person’s wants, needs, and goals. In fact, I felt worse on a Pescatarian approach as well as plant based approach. I implement a balanced approach in my own personal nutrition because I believe everything can be okay in mindful moderation. I wouldn’t dare say this in any MS group anymore after the backlash I’ve received in the past. Some of these MS diets are extreme. Some are a lot more flexible. Truth is, food can have a large impact on us at a deeper level. I was raised consuming Hispanic foods on a regular basis. These are some of my most comforting things when I’m having a hard day. The more deprived you feel following a diet, the higher chance you will binge on less nutrient dense foods or “restricted” choices. Fun fact: Our brains work hard to conserve energy. The more we think about NOT doing something uses more energy than actually doing it. Ever go through a stressful or emotionally charged time and do something you wouldn’t have done in your “right” “logical” mind? Yeah, me too. Every health-centered diet has a few key elements in common: * Maximize whole foods * Get enough quality protein * Incorporate lots of veggies * Prioritize high nutrient density * Eat slowly * Minimize processed foods Find your balance. Diet needs and preferences is just as unique and varied as our own MS symptoms. ✌🏼

Eat what makes you happy wether it’s “healthy” or not, take pleasure when you can.
