training during flare up

Hi! I have a question about how everyone manages working out while in a flare up. do you still push through or is it better to keep things calm while my body is sorting itself out? I just started my flare up 5 days ago and I’m having a moment of frustration ( make that many moments ) My fatigue gets much worse and so does all the numbness and tremor/vibrations a few hours after I exercise. But at the same time if I’m not damaging my body, my brain tells me to work out anyway, Not to give in and do the best I can and I can always lie down for 2 hours after my exercise. What do you guys do? rest? yoga? keep doing push ups..... and what’s the mindset I should be adopting overall for workouts and achieving exercise goals now that I have MS. It’s only been a year of being diagnosed and I’m feeling lost. Thank you all for sharing

Hello @lindsay_muir, one of the most important things after being diagnosed is to become familiar with your limits. If your body is registering that you have fatigue, then you need to acknowledge that, rather than fight it. BUT, at the same time, you do need to keep going. For me, when I'm having a flare up - which I don't always recognise - I do a watered down version of things, adjusting the routine. The most important thing not to compromise on is rest and sleep. We all feel lost sometimes, no matter how long we've been diagnosed. MS is a very solitary business really, hard to explain what it feels like. So you're in good company here! Hope you feel better soon :-)

@lindsay_muir , listen to your body and follow its recommendations. So start moderately and build up as your body tolerates it. It's good that you are doing exercise in a relapse, but overdoing it will be counter-productive. MS is a formidable enemy, so choose your battles.............
