Oral Steroids

Went to the GP earlier as my eyes are bad, I'm dizzy and off balance and my hand is gone all floppy. He put me on a course of oral steroids for a week, and I can't tell you how happy I am! In the past, my Neuro (who is SO stingy with the steroids) has only given me IV steroids once, and that was at my diagnosis. I've had a few tough symptoms over the year, and when I asked for steroids she told me unless my symptoms were "life threatening"(her words!!) then she wouldn't give me steroids. It seems to me, from reading this site and speaking to other MSers that people seem to get steroids fairly easily. Do you or is your Neuro like mine?
@ophelia

Your neuro used that exact term?!!! That's unbelievable!! My MS nurse said to me that nothing relating to MS is acute but the symptoms can be disabling in which case steroids are absolutely indicated!! I'd make a complaint or at least switch neuro!!! I am shocked!!!

@Lillylilly

Yeah, she's pretty tough alright. She wouldn't be empathetic at all. She is probably the best neurologist here in Ireland and is well known in the area. When other Irish MSers know she is my Neuro they think it's great as she is always on TV and radio speaking about neurological conditions. She missed the day in school where they taught her to be nice to sick people!!!!
