MS Triggers aka Relapse aka Flare up

Since my diagnosis in Sept-Nov 2024 I’ve only experienced numbness on the rights side of my face, leg cramping at night and issue with bladder not feeling emptied and needing to go 5 minutes after just going. So the other day I decided to have a cup of tea made from dried Soursop leaves and shortly after finishing my cup of tea I began to feel different. I started to feel numbness on the right side of my body from the top of my head down my neck, upper back and part of my right arm down until my elbow. The feeling was very intense especially on the right side of the back of my neck. It felt as if ice had been placed in those areas of my body and it had gone numb from the ice. I mean I couldn’t even comb my hair without feeling this weird and unusual sensation. Because this was all a new feeling for me I immediately started looking up symptoms of MS on the internet only to find that such symptoms could be sign of the start of a stroke. So I took myself to the emergency room just in case I might be having a stroke. I was provided a neurology test and a CT scan which ruled out that I was having a stroke, thank God! So this appeared to be considered a MS relapse aka flare up. Now the only thing I can say that I did differently before this happened was drinking that cup of Soursop tea. I wasn’t stressed I was relaxed this day. I had also had a nice breakfast a little before drinking the tea which consisted of egg, pancakes and homefries. Has anyone else ever experienced a relapse or flare up after eating or drinking anything?

I had scalp pain/ very severe localised headaches at the start of what was a relapse that led to diagnosis. I tried so hard to think about what started the pain but to this day I don't know. In my case it was a lesion on my brain stem irritating a nerve that ran up to the left crown area of my head. Oral steroids took the pain right down, no other pain relief came close, over time other symptoms of the relapse appeared and unfortunately the steroids didn't improve these. I was put on Ocrevus and this was over four years ago, I'm doing really well, MRIs are coming back no changes and i don't think I have any symptoms of m.s at all really. Best wishes and I hope everything resolves

Hi, thank you for sharing and your kind words. I’m glad taking Ocrevus is working for you. I hope it does the same for me.
